About Me

Hi, I'm Amanda, founder of Guiding Oak Learning.

As a lifelong member of the Ramona community, I've always had a passion for helping children learn and grow. After 10 years in the elementary classroom, I created Guiding Oak Learning to provide personalized, research-based support that helps every child build confidence, strengthen skills, and develop a love of learning.

I believe every child deserves instruction that's tailored to their unique strengths, needs, and goals. Whether we're building reading foundations, growing math confidence, or helping a child discover that learning can be enjoyable, my goal is to make every session encouraging, engaging, and meaningful.

As both a teacher and a mom of two boys ( 1 and 8), I understand how important it is for families to feel supported. I value partnering closely with parents, celebrating progress, and helping each child discover their own path to success.

How I Approach Learning

I start by getting to know your child—their interests, their strengths, how they approach a task, and what feels challenging. I look closely at what they already understand and which skills need more support, then use that information to plan purposeful instruction and practice.

My approach draws on my classroom experience, training in the science of reading, and research-informed math instruction. I want children to understand what they’re learning and have opportunities to explain, practice, ask questions, and experience success.

Families are part of that process, too. I share what we’re working on, the progress I’m seeing, and practical ways to support learning at home. My goal is to make the next steps feel clear and manageable.

Why “Guiding Oak”?

The name reflects my belief that meaningful growth begins with strong foundations. Like an oak tree, children need time, care, and the right support to develop strong roots.

At Guiding Oak Learning, I want every child to feel understood, encouraged, and proud of their growth, and every family to feel they have someone in their corner.

Strong roots. Confident learners. Meaningful growth.
